Game Submission Guidelines & Review Policy

The Gamer’s Codex relies heavily on manufacturers, publishers and designers submitting complementary copies of their games for review.  The Gamer’s Codex wants to make a sincere and professional commitment to receive, review and when requested, demonstrate any product that is sent to us.  We take every product seriously and commit to an honest and constructive review in a timely fashion.

If you are a company or designer and would like to submit a game, please take a look at the following guidelines.  Contact us via email and let us know if you are looking for a review or preview.  Also please let us know if you wish us to demo the game at the events we have access to.  When you send your product to us, please let us know in the email which of the following would you like:

  1. Preview
  2. Basic Review
  3. Review with Demos for Exposure (and please note if you want after-action reports)
  4. Reviews with Demos for Feedback from players

Upon receiving your email, we will contact you as quickly as possible. In order to insure that your game receives a fair review it will be assigned to an individual who is experienced in playing games of that genre, theme, or style. We prefer that a game is ready for release to the public although we will preview advanced beta designs that are preparing to go to print.

Our reviews, previews, interviews, etc. are all 100% free for game companies and developers. We strive to be fair and unbiased in presenting our impressions and thoughts as well as pointing out what sort of player your game will appeal to. If you would like to ensure in depth coverage, a second opinion, a timely review you will want to arrange for additional review copies to be provided.

We cannot make any promises about the sort of review you will receive.  We can only promise that it will be open and honest from a qualified and experience gamer.  We have no intention of trashing a game that someone spent a lot of time and effort on.  In those cases where we struggle to find the good qualities in a game, we commit to supply as much constructive criticism as possible.  In general, if your game is good, we usually can review it faster than games that are more tedious or of a lower quality.

Please keep in mind we will not provide a review based upon prototype submissions.  We will only review games that are presented as a finished product that exactly reflects what will be available to the buying public. We do understand that, on very rare occasions, a minor revision is made before the final design is given a full print run and in those situations we will present a review. Prototypes and nearly complete masters will be given in-depth previews or “sneak peeks.”

Our intention is to get our reviews out in as timely a fashion as possible.  Upon receiving the product, we hope to get a review out in 2 to 3 weeks after.  A lot will depend on the amount of product we have to sort through and how many reviewers we have at our disposal at the time.

Copies may be sent to our shipping address found in our Contact page.  You may see an explanation of our review system here.

The Gamer’s Codex would like to thank all the designer’s and publisher’s for all that you do for our hobby.  Thank you for giving us the labors of your hearts and minds for us to explore our imagination and intellect.  We look forward to working with you.
